The London Recordings
The idea of moving from architecture to painting to drawing to sound took many years to evolve. Thirty-one years to be exact.
In 2013, oryx met syz.y.gy chose me for an artist residency at their studio in London. While working there, I was studying the doomed Heygate Estate, a housing project that was slated for demolition amid much controversy in South London, I decided to document the site with photographs and transpose the photos into sound compositions through drawing…a Rhythmanalysis.
Heygate Suites 1 and 2 were created during this time. Two improvisational live performances of the photographs and drawings took place. Evert Taihuttu was my sound engineer for the recordings.
